Works as advertised...will see about NFC

Onite 1980mAh Battery Samsung Capacitive

Onite 1980mAh Battery Samsung Capacitive

I purchased this totally blind and so far am very satisfied with it's performance. This is a new phone, so I don't have much to compare it to. I have not used the NFC to confirm that it works. I will update the review if something needs to be changed. That said,

I purchased this expressly for using my phone as a gps tracking device for day hiking, knowing I'd be out 8-10 hours at a time and may not be in cell tower range. I'm assuming that the phone is constantly polling and even though I had all notifications off, I also assume this is not a very battery efficient setup. During my week away, at the end of the day, I would get back with 35-50% battery left. I used the phone heavily in the evening on wifi and still had plenty of juice left before I recharged for the evening.

For my purposes and at this cost, this is a winner. I have no way of knowing if it has as much "oomph" as the higher priced offerings, but it certainly is a nice alternative.

It is not as bulky as I thought it would be. I certainly didn't get the urge to rip it off as as soon as I returned to "civilization". The new back is serviceable. I'm not a fan of these zipper backs, but that is Samsung's issue.

If the battery came bundled with a charger it would be outstanding.

UPDATE: I have been using this battery for several weeks. I have tried to run it down, I get at about 1 day and 14 hours with 12% left. That includes two hours of streaming podcasts or radio, an hour of workout, email and phone. Some game playing, Temple Run for about 20 minutes as part of the test. I am very pleased with this battery. The one con is the battery back is hard to get off.

Phone:
Google Galaxy Nexus (i9250). I purchased battery and the Trexcell TPU flexible case for extended battery (fits great) and I use this case, as well as a body glove and Cruzer Lite with a Seidio Surface holster. Basically got the holster and two of the three cases for the cost of the Seidio Surface combo together, but I guess that is another review.

I usually end up complaining in reviews. It nice to be able to recommend a good value. Don't let the lack of reviews and the low cost put you off.

  1. Battery is awesome. I have seen great improvement on my battery life. Reaching almost 24 hours with some heavy use. I am also surprised that it does not add as much bulkiness to the phone. Feels great in the hand. Be warned that once you put the cover on...its on. Very hard to take off. The cover is not cheaply made at all. It has a soft rubbery coating on it and makes it feel nice and adds grip to the phone. The cover is smooth and does not come with the original cover design. The color of the cover is a shade of gray but different from the gray of the phone. I have not tried the NFC but will update once i try it out later.

UPDATE: NFC works and i am still going about 24 hours with heavy use by using this battery. I highly recommend it!

  2. I've purchased several extended batteries, and I've always stuck to Sedio products. This time I decided to save some money, and buy this instead. It's been great--no need to spend big bucks.

  3. I love them. Works great for Nexus hspa+. I charge them up and put them in my purse for back-ups.

  5. I've been impressed with the battery. It seems to be lasting roughly twice what the stock battery is, which is exactly what it should be lasting based on being double the mAh of the stock battery. I have used NFC and it works fine with the battery installed. I've only had the battery about a month, so I can't speak to the longevity yet, but so far has been a solid battery that performs as it is supposed to.

  6. This battery is pretty nice. It lets me run my Galaxy Nexus for up to 3 days on one charge with some moderate use. I was trying to kill the battery the first time and it played netflix over wifi for 5 or 6 hours with about 50% battery left.

  7. This product saved my tail when my USB charging port went out on my GSM Galaxy Nexus. I've since grown to love the ability to simply swap out a battery when my phone is low and often carry the extras around when I know I'll be away from an outlet. The added flexibility is really great.

The stylus is a little short, but it is still thinner than my finger.

  8. I bought a battery with double the capacity of the stock battery and that's exactly what I got. With heavy use, I was getting about 12 hours with my original battery. After switching, I'm getting at least 24 hours. If you use your phone power conservatively, you can probably get at least 2-3 days use out of it. If you can live with the added bulk (which I personally find to be more ergonomic), You'll love this product. Those of you who prefer the original form factor might be better off buying multiple standard sized batteries and switching between them. I tried that process and hated it.

  9. I have had using this battery for a more than 10 days now and I'm impressed.
This battery last 3 days with moderate use and turning on data only when using.
For heavy use last for the full day and still have some charge for the next day.
Power on my phone at 8:00 AM and using it with all notifications on, GPS, surfing the internet, text, phone calls, play some games and emails, at the end of the day
was at 10:00PM and still have about 29 % of battery. Very Nice.
I got 2 more extra batteries
